The counseling program is implemented through three major areas:

· Classroom Guidance

· Small Group Counseling

· Individual Counseling

 Classroom Guidance

Classroom Guidance will be offered to each grade level through outside agencies, as well as lessons by the counselor. Each lesson will be based on the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools. Some topics to be discussed will be analyzing individual testing results, career a personal /social needs. Classroom Guidance may be led by Mrs. Combs or outside guest speakers.

Group Counseling

Small group guidance is organized to meet specific grade level needs. Many students experience social and personal issues and can learn effectively from one another in a small group setting. The counselor act as mediator and arranges activities for various topics such as divorce, grief, social skills, etc. Parents, administrators, and teachers may refer or request a student for a small group session. The groups will meet bi-weekly and times will be coordinated with the teacher.

Individual Counseling

Teachers, administrators, and parents may refer a student to the counselor for various reasons.  The student may also ask the teacher for a visit with the counselor to discuss specific needs or concerns. Counselors work with the students individually to provide guidance when a student is working through difficult personal situations and/or transitions.
